And You Thought Your Day Was Bad?!

I took my camera to the garden to catch this picture of the typical female Praying Mantis that acted as the "Black Widow". Yep, she enticed the male to come visit and well, you can see what happened.
But then before I knew it, ANOTHER praying mantis was watching her and POUNCED on her. First she (I think it's a she) ate her partner and then..........
the rest of her meal. Is Nature cruel or what?!

Let Sleeping Chicks Lie

The chicks now have quite a few feathers. Still a heat light on at night. See the "surprise" chick (one that looks different). We're still waiting to see what kind it is........ No doubt, it's a rooster....... Why else would they give you a SURPRISE chick?!

Back Home

Couldn't stay too long camping as we had to get back to our 2 girls who are due to whelp. Do they look pregnant?! Here is Pixie..... hmmm, maybe only one.
Annie looks a little more pregnant!
And of course, had to get back to this too!!! More canning!

Camping at Lake Pardee

Went on our 2 day camping trip at Lake Pardee which is about 40 some miles away from us. Not too far but close enough if something happened, we could "run" home. Here is our campsite. Rob and Kath's campsite is behind us!
Can't camp without your dogs...... thank goodness for fencing! Normally Dolly (fawn) doesn't go camping but she had a 7 week old puppy we couldn't leave behind. All the dogs were so good. They're all good camping buddies! We brought Spanky (JRT), Mouse Dolly w/puppy and Pup.
Of course, Lake Pardee is known for it's fishing............. we're off to a fishing site! Did we catch anything?????? Nnnnooooooo!
Poor Spanky, all pooped out riding in the boat!
Here is a seagull trying to catch shad that were jumping out of the water, it was so interesting to watch!

Garden Rascal

Here's this handsome buck that keeps jumping into my garden by our house when the big dogs aren't around. So far, the strawberries, beans, tomatoes and horseradish!

Dolly's New Puppy

Here's Dolly's new baby. He's now around 6 weeks old. Real cutie! He's more independent than her last puppy. Already using the potty pad. Good puppy!

The Chicks Have Arrived!

I got a call last thursday at 6:55 A.M. from our local Post Office stating that our chicks were in. I was amazed that they called that early. Maybe they were afraid they'd have them too long! I did pick them up but not until 3 hrs. later. I was still in my bathrobe, letting the dogs out when they called! Plus I had a couple other runs that I had to do. I did get them with a lot of strange faces looking at me while I carried this "peeping" box out to my car!

Brought them home and they were greeted by all these faces!

They're all settled in and enjoying their new home! Oh..... they're Rhode Island Reds.
